From #1 bestselling author Lisa Scottoline comes a pulse-pounding domestic thriller about family and justice, the ties that bind us, and the lies that tear us apart.

TJ Devlin is the charming disappointment in the prominent Devlin family, all of whom are lawyers at their highly successful firm – except him. After a stint in prison and rehab for alcoholism, TJ can’t get hired anywhere except at the firm, in a make-work job with the title of investigator.

But one night, TJ’s world turns upside down after his older brother John confesses that he just murdered one of their clients, an accountant he’d confronted with proof of embezzlement. It seems impossible coming from John, the firstborn son and Most Valuable Devlin.

TJ plunges into the investigation. seizing the chance to prove his worth and save his brother. But in no time, TJ and John find themselves entangled in a lethal web of deception and murder. T.J. will fight to save his family, but what he learns might break them first.

A wayward son. A wealthy family. A murder that could destroy them all.

Meet The Devlins. Are they a family or a conspiracy?

EARLY PRAISE

Ghosts of Harvard is written with a masterly, focused hand, belying the fact that this is Serritella’s debut novel. The pages burn with frenetic energy and are peopled by memorable, compelling characters. The tension is palpable, the twists and surprises perfectly timed and the stakes as high as humans should be asked to endure. The end result, a novel you will long remember and characters you will want to see again. A triumph in every respect.”
—#1 New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci

“Wow, what a lively, compelling, and intoxicating debut. Ghosts of Harvard is so many things—a rumination on grief, a glimpse behind the ivory walls of a famous institution, a poignant look at mental illness, and a powerful story about the ghosts that haunt us all. Francesca Serritella is my new ‘go-to’ author.”
—#1 New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben

“Every time I thought I knew where Ghosts of Harvard was heading, I turned out to be wrong. Part mystery, part ghost story, part psychological thriller, this novel is all entertainment.”
—#1 New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult

Column Classic: The Mothership
By Lisa Scottoline

I’m a terrible negotiator. I’m too emotional, and I can’t pretend I don’t want something I really want.
Like George Clooney.
But today we’re talking cars, and this is the tale of my first attempt at negotiating.
To begin, I have an older car that I take great care of, and it’s aged better than I have, sailing past 100,000 miles without estrogen replacement.
But around 102,000 miles, things started to go wrong, and flaxseed wasn’t helping. I knew I’d be driving long distances on book tour, and I started to worry. I called up my genius assistant Laura to ask her advice, as I do before I make any important decision, like what to eat for lunch.

I am at 203200 on mine. At 100,000 it was still new! At 180,000 I was driving from PA to FL non stop! A friend has one same year and model as mine and he is at 245000….so mine still has many years of life left!

Here's my mothership

In 2022 I traded in my 2003 Jeep. It was beautiful on the inside but pretty rugged looking on the outside. I loved that car. I used to call her Lucy. Now I have a sporty Toyota that has all the doodads on it and is extra safe. How do I feel about it? I would much rather have my jeep back. I miss it. So I know where you’re coming from Lisa.

Perfect! Always good to have backup!

Good decision! What did you name the SUV?

I always think I'm going to be so tough, but...

Back in the early ‘90’s I bought a brand new Navy Blue Crown Vic! I loved that car. I bought a raincoat to match. So, I definitely understand your tears. Keep the Mothership. ❤️🫶🏻🚘

The Mothership is a great name for your old car. I hope you enjoy the new one just as much as you enjoyed the old one!

I had a 1986 Chevy S-10 Blazer with a 5 speed manual transmission that I loved. I put 275,000 miles on it in 14 1/2 years. I finally broke down and got a new (to me) car in 2000. Had that one only 5 1/2 years - will never buy a used car again. Next car - 9 years and 175,000 miles. Now I have a 2015 Kia Soul with 134,000 miles and still going. I still miss the Blazer and the manual transmission.

Because of my health, I had to give up my Forester named Flicka after the opera singer,Frederika von Stada. I am so sad. I loved driving that car!!

Bravo!!! Win win!! Glad you kept her! Too funny❤️😄

I always feel bad when I trade in a car. I asked my Dad if he felt the same. He replied “only until I drive the new one off the lot”.

Love it! 🩷

This was the best!

You are so droll!! I get so much out of your column!!!

No trade in, we gave our Prius to our son. Keeps it in the family.

Yay- love this! 🥰Glad you kept the Mothership!

😂"I bet that never happened to James Patterson." 😂

Long live The Mothership!

I loved this and glad someone else loves their vehicles like I do.

Hopefully, she's still around...and getting driven now and then!

Love this post, Lisa! I get it.We too have one that will be hard to part with soon, but, we must!

I give my car names say goodbye and wish her luck.

I basically grieved the demise of every well used long lived car I ever had. We were BFFs, maybe not really Forever but close. Remember every name, not so much every model, but color and mileage, so good relationship. So my condolences on your recent loss. Maybe our pets will greet us on the other side nestled in our dearly departed autos! That’s my thought and I’m sticking to it. ❤️ your Sunday tales as usual. Keep them coming! 😋🚙🚘

Max, my 2000 Grand Prix, has a dead battery right now, but I will never sell him. Next year, he is 25 and a "classsic" car, which doubles his worth. When I win the lottery, I will still keep and drive him. Longest relationship I have ever had. Keep driving the Mothership. Consider the new guy the back-up. Like a back-up prom date....
